About SBP
Location
SBP is based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and has extensive experience in development work in sub-Saharan Africa.

SBP was formally registered in South Africa in 1998 as a Section 21 not-for-profit company.  SBP is a direct descendant of the Sunnyside Group – a network of South African companies, business associations and NGOs established in 1987 in the early stages of South Africa’s transition to democracy, aiming to bring about the conditions necessary for national economic success, with a particular focus on regulatory reform.

Funding and Income
SBP undertakes self-initiated projects, commissioned work and contract work. Our projects are funded by the private sector, public sector, and a variety of donors, including the British Department for International Development (DFID), the Business Linkages Challenge Fund, GtZ, the Ford Foundation and the Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung, amongst others.

Staff
SBP employs a small number of full-time professional staff, support staff and information specialists. SBP works closely with a team of expert consultants and associates in Africa and further afield, enabling us to access sector and country specific expertise as required.
