Chris Darroll
Chief Executive


Chris Darroll is the founder and chief executive of SBP. She is internationally recognised as a leading private sector development specialist, with a particular interest in SME development.

She has provided consulting services and advice to international development agencies, government departments, and large corporations in evaluating, designing and establishing programmes to promote private sector growth.

Nick Janse van Rensburg

Nick is the Chief Executive of Phakamani Impact Capital.  Nick has worked in the enterprise development space for over 20 years, managing one of Africa's largest corporate enterprise development funds for more than a decade.  He is regarded as an authority in small business development and holds a wealth of experience in this field. 

Nick began his career with Anglo American.  In 1989 he helped establish Anglo's SME development fund, Zimele, which under his stewardship as managing director has been widely acknowledged as an exemplar in enterprise development by leading international agencies including the World Bank, IFC and UNCTAD

 

Prof Neil Rankin

Neil is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Stellenbosch University.  He is also the founding director of the African Micro-Economic Research Umbrella (AMERU).  His research interests include trade economics, labour economics, and applied micro and firm dynamics. 

As SBP's consulting micro-economist, Neil is integral to SBP's SME Growth Index, providing oversight to the survey's methodology and data analysis.  Neil also serves as an economic advisor to the National Treasury and SA Presidency.  He has a doctorate from the University of Oxford, Centre for the Study of African Economies, and an MA in Economics from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver.

Robin Heal
OBE

Robin Heal is an Economist and Accountant, living in the UK. For many years he headed BP's International Corporate Social Responsibility programme, before leaving the company to work in the not-for-profit sector. He was a founder member and Chairman of the London Enterprise Agency, and has served on the Boards of several other enterprise development initiatives.

Robin has also served as a trustee of the International Council of Ethics and Economics and is on the advisory panel of the Corporate Citizenship Company. He was a founder member of the Prince of Wales International Business Leaders Forum, and the European Business Network for Social Cohesion, and has served on a number of UK Government and Council of Europe advisory bodies.

Robin is currently on the Boards of three Community Development Loan Funds, and is Chairman of an International charity working with disabled people in Africa and South East Asia. He was awarded an OBE for services to community development.
